Christians swear by the 'God diet'

A NEW diet is taking off because it's not about losing weight - it's about committing to God.
Fasting has long been an important part of practising religion and showing obedience to God.
But a growing number of people in the US Bible Belt are finding that a diet motivated by faith is much easier to stick to than one motivated by the size of your waistline - and it still helps you shed the kilos.
January Rowe, a Baptist who lives near Dallas, Texas, told The Atlantic that she first entertained the idea of fasting when her husband started a new business. "I wanted to pray and do whatever I could to support him".
But with two young children she didn't think she could go days without food. So she decided to try the "Daniel fast" - a 21-day fast which involves restricting your diet to fruit, vegetables and whole grains only.
