Like many women, 25-year-old Sanford resident Katy Robbins, tried a wide variety of weight loss programs and fad diets over the years in an attempt to reach her goal weight of 130 pounds.
Unfortunately, any weight she lost while dieting quickly returned after the diet was over and she tried to go back to her normal lifestyle. Then six months ago, she learned about MidMichigan Health’s Medical Weight Management Program, which focuses on long-term lifestyle modification versus short-term dieting.Upon joining the program, Robbins selected the Foundations Plan.“I had previously tried another medical weight loss program several years ago and they had me eating 900 calories per day. A lot of the calories were from high-protein meal replacement packages which included shakes, smoothies and microwaveable meals,” Robbins said. “I didn’t really lose much weight and within three months of discontinuing the program, I gained about 30 pounds.”Robbins chose the Foundations Plan because she wanted to lose weight slowly eating everyday foods so that she could learn what calorie range she needed to be in and what she should and shouldn’t eat.
