Nutrition tip of the week: The year to lose weight for good

For many of us, New Year’s resolutions have been made and maybe even forgotten by now. If your annual resolution is to lose weight, something is wrong with that picture. This year, make the weight loss permanent and forget about making “lose weight” a New Year’s resolution next year.
Although you may be desperate to lose weight quickly, remember the extra pounds didn’t come on overnight, and they are not going away without a little time. It’s tempting to jump on the most extreme, quick weight loss diet plan you can find, but there are problems with that approach. These diets don’t take into account your personal lifestyle. They often require drastic changes that you likely won’t be able to maintain for very long. When you choose a diet that eliminates entire food groups, restricts calories excessively, or requires you to eat foods that aren’t a normal part of your diet, you are setting yourself up for disappointment, discouragement and failure.
