She lost weight to protect her heart and to have more fun with her daughter

Samantha Breeding, 29, was eating right and led an active life. But her cholesterol was still 250-plus, mostly from LDL, the bad type of cholesterol.
She’d gained baby weight seven years ago and never dropped it, so she was about 250 pounds, too much for her 5 foot 6 frame. In March 2011, just after she was divorced, she started working on dropping the pounds.
The impetus was two-pronged. She’d suffered a broken ankle while skating, and it wasn’t healing properly, she said. Then, her daughter, 2 years old at the time, spoke with the honesty of a toddler.
